find out more about barilla
— The Barilla Pavilion International Competition will represent a major milestone in the revamping of the Barilla Headquarters in Pedrignano (Parma), adding a landmark structure to a site that already has iconic status within the history of the brand.
— The competition, run by Luca Molinari Studio, will be held in two stages and will aim to gather architectural proposals from both emerging designers and established firms.
— Barilla is looking for talented designers capable of understanding and transmitting the company’s values. The competition process has been designed to help the company select a firm with the capabilities necessary to create a new piece of contemporary architecture that will also reinforce and promote the identity of the entire Parma area.
1/5
— integrate within and engage with the local community and cultural offer in the Parma area, entering into dialogue and collaborating with the relevant institutions
2/5
— act as a point of departure in the re-imagination of the Pedrignano industrial complex– heralding a shift from production to dialogue and exchange with the public
3/5
— have a strong and expressive architectural character and act as a new local landmark for the territory, symbolizing a trajectory towards the future.
4/5
— constitute a flexible, cutting-edge space, open 365 days a year and suitable for both large and smaller scale events.
5/5
— demonstrate cutting-edge credentials and sustainability in its architectural choices and the building techniques employed.
This shall apply not only to the lifespan of the building - which is envisaged as being as energy-efficient as possible - but also throughout the construction process, i.e. in terms of the use of suitable materials and techniques.
— In the '70s the newly built Pedrignano Campus was able to boldly embody a different aesthetic of the modernity. The new intervention, has to be the result of a strong experimental research in which form and space materialize a challenge for the future.
— For this reason the new architectural volume will be located in a strategic area of the existing Barilla Campus: at its entrance
